The ancient glories of the game continue to come back and enjoy a work of restoration. Whether through compilations or as a download, the result remains the same: to inform a generation of players of important titles which marked our microcosm. Of course, the relative amount of work / money raised is rather interesting for publishers, they would be wrong to go without it.
As a militant infiltration film, Metal Gear has been proven that one can combine high performance action, infiltration and deep scenario. Far from being free of defects, the saga of Kojima will nevertheless be possible to propose a different view of the game while avoiding the codes in place while allowing it into the controller to question as a spectator, player and individual. In fact, this HD compilation, beyond the financial opportunity for Konami, is a great testimony in that Hideo has always been able to change the series by not resting on its laurels. If we regret the impasse on the very first episode, or at least the remake released on GameCube, we meet three emblematic episodes in both directions in the artistic aspect of borrowed screenplay.
While Metal Gear: Solid Peace Walker can be regarded as a minor episode compared to Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater, it should still be noted that this episode has managed the feat to understand the series in a somewhat more strategic way. Whether it will be appreciated or not but I must admit that the result was very significant. Moreover, it is even more so today in the sense that the second stick of the Dual Shock 3 provides much more flexibility during the phases of infiltration / action. In short, in addition to gameplay involving original strategy through the capture of enemies, the management of troops and cooperation, the staging of Peace Waker also proved useful in choosing a kind of interactive comic book.
Perfectly in the spirit of the series even if we do not of course have the mastery of Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3. However, these two segments are very different in the directions taken. It’s also worth their immoderate support from the fans who generally disagree on the intrinsic quality of these two games. If we exclude these “controversials”, it should above all remember that each Metal Gear Solid is sufficient in itself and offers a different adventure, although governed by immutable rules synonymous with dozens of easter eggs, findings of engineering or staging involved.
Whether through a reflection on the genetic or an adventure set during the 60′s, MGS 2 & 3 have managed to brave the weather with a grace insolent. Thus, if MGS 2 laid the foundation for gameplay Solid (e), MGS 3 crossed a new milestone, especially through his Version Subsistence offering free management of the camera. A huge step forward for the series and the player. Of Subsistence, Snake Eater also recovers the first two MSX Metal Gear out of course found on this compilation. If we add the various game modes, side missions and episodes PS2 life gargantuan Peace Walker, the longevity of the compilation will not be questionable.
In terms of the realization by cons, there will be a little skeptical in the sense that as usual, the only novelty is synonymous with HD graphics. We also regret that the records are accessed through the main menu when selecting the game. However, difficult to dwell on it as these rocks are generally common to all these collections. What we retain is the more epic of AMS proposed which alone gives legitimacy to this compilation. Of course, the bare minimum is provided but when the minimum reached such heights, it would be wrong to miss out.
IMPRESSIONS: Metal Gear Solid HD Collection
Graphics:
In the great tradition of HD Collection, the graphics of the three games here are nothing fancy. However, the dust is honest work for both the two-part opus PS2 PSP although the latter is a little harder to convince. Note however that MGS 2 & 3 coming, even now, to hold a candle to some kind of tenors with their staging inspired, is a worthy successor to their counterparts in film.
Gameplay:
It is not easy to get used to the gameplay of Metal Gear Solid, but once past the little time to adapt, you take a certain pleasure to fly over the three episodes available. This is especially true given that the version of Snake Eater camera system has the manual of MGS 3 Subsistence and Peace Walker enjoys the second stick on the controller means more flexibility.
Lifetime:
If you opt for a high level of difficulty and you have fun finding the plethora of easter eggs present in each episode, you’ll get many weeks of play. In addition, Peace Walker provides strategic direction, you will quick to spend a lot of time to refine your troops to unlock all the bonus missions.
Soundtrack:
The coherence of the English dubbing of an episode to the next immersion greatly increases as the quality of the music much to the appreciation of Harry Gregson-Williams who was in charge of the work of MGS 2 & 3. If the specter of doubt hovers Hans Zimmer over the work of his protégé, it’s difficult to criticize the musical as it makes the episodes offered here.
Scenario:
Although very different from one episode to another, the scenario of Metal Gear Solid is undoubtedly one of its strengths. It is also impossible to say with certainty which segment is doing better, it depends on your sensitivity and your interests playing a lot in this assessment.
Conclusion:
If not stress enough that this type of compilation is primarily for those who have not had the opportunity to experience these games on their initial release. I must still confess that it spoils us with Konami’s Metal Gear Solid HD collection. Indeed, instead of two sets usually available, here we will get three or even five if you count titles in the lot the two went out on Metal Gear MSX. If the work is once again reduced to its simplest form, the content should be sufficient in itself to convince you as the episodes are emblematic for PS2 as well an excellent album PSP, surprising directions borrowed, but with its place in the mythology of the series.
